Short Passages of The Qur’an

(a)

Bismi-l-lahi-r-Rahmani-r-Raheem

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Qul huwa-l-lahu Ahad

قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ

Al-lahu-s-Samad

اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ

Lam yalid wa lam yulad

لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ

Wa lam yakun lahu kufwan ahad

وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ

This may be interpreted as follows:

In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. Say: He is God, the One and Only God, the eternally besought of all. He gives no birth, nor is He born And there is none like unto Him (Qur’an, 112).

(b)

Bismi-l-lahi-r-Rahmani-r-Raheem

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Wa-l-asr

وَالْعَصْرِ

Inna-l-insana lafee khusr

إِنَّ الإِنسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍ

Illa-l-ladheena amanu wa ‘amilu as-salihat

إِلاَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ

Wa tawasaw bi-l-haq sabr wa tawasaw bi-s-sabr

وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ
